Judaism in the Galilee

Ancient Synagogue

After the destruction of the religious-national center in Jerusalem in 70 C.E. the Jewish Sages continued to develop and expound Judaism.  Exploring archaeological sites like Beit Shearimand Tzippori, we enter the ancient world that fashioned modern Judaism.  Visits to later synagogues such as Beit Alpha and Hamat Tiberias allows us to see non-Jewish world influences in Jewish building. We will meet with modern Galilean Jews from different streams of Judaism to see how ageless traditions have taken modern forms in ritual and in synagogues
