The White City

The White Tel Aviv as a Bauhaus Cente

Known as the “White City”, Tel Aviv got this name because of the thousands of Bauhaus style buildings that were built in the 1930’ s.  In recent years great efforts have been made to restore many of these buildings- walk through the city and take in their clean, sophisticated style.  Tel Aviv is also known for its markets- from the Carmel Market, the city’ s biggest produce and housewares center and, of recent years, hip destination for local street food, to the Levinsky Market and markets at Sarona, the Tel Aviv Port, the Tachana, and others.
