Latrun is of significant strategic value and was often the site of battles mentioned in the Bible. As the last British troops departed from Palestine in May 14, 1948, the British police fort was overtaken by the Jordanian Arab Legion enabling it to attack traffic on the highway from Latrun and effectively imposing a siege on Jerusalem.  In 1967, Latrun was captured by Israeli forces and has since become a museum and memorial for Israel's armored corps.

Stop at the Haas Promenade for a scenic overlook of Jerusalem and to bless your first sight of the Holy city.

Memory and Memorial

Breakfast at the hotel

Today, as we move freely around Jerusalem from east to west, few signs remain of the bitter battles waged to achieve the unity of the city in 1967, during the Six Day War. A visit to Ammunition Hill reminds us of the fierce fighting and high death toll exacted in these battles. The site, which serves as a memorial to those who fell in the battle for Jerusalem, is where paratroopers began their successful campaign to reunite the city.

Visit Yad Vashem, Israel’s national Holocaust museum, presents a profoundly Jewish memorial of the Shoah. From its dramatic structure to its powerful exhibits, such as the labyrinthine Valley of the Communities and the underground Children’s Memorial, Yad Vashem is an unforgettable place of tribute and remembrance.
